Description
The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 150 | 100 is a high-current, high-performance MPPT solar charge controller designed for large 12V, 24V, and 48V off-grid systems. Supporting up to 150V PV open-circuit voltage and delivering a massive 100A of charge output, this controller is ideal for large RV and fifth-wheel solar systems, off-grid cabins, tiny homes, marine power systems, and mobile commercial power trailers.
The Ultra-Fast Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithm maximizes solar harvest in low light, partial shade, and fast-changing weather conditions. Integrated Bluetooth Smart enables wireless configuration and monitoring via VictronConnect, and VE.Direct allows seamless integration with Cerbo GX and the full Victron Energy system platform.
Your uploaded SmartSolar MPPT manual provides full details on wiring diagrams, lithium settings, fusing, PV array configurations, and cold-temperature Voc considerations.
Solar Array Capability
The MPPT 150 | 100 supports high-voltage arrays up to 150V, making it compatible with multiple RV panels in series or with residential 60/72-cell solar modules.
Maximum Recommended Solar Array Size
| Battery Voltage | Max Charge Amps | Max Recommended Solar |
|---|---|---|
| 12V system | 100A | ≈ 1,450W |
| 24V system | 100A | ≈ 2,900W |
| 48V system | 100A | ≈ 5,800W |
Array oversizing is allowed—the controller automatically limits output to 100A.
Engineering Solar Table (Vmp / Imp / Series Limits)
| Panel Type | Typical Vmp | Typical Imp | Max Panels in Series (150V limit) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 60-cell residential panel | 30–33V | 8–9A | Up to 4S | Ideal for cabins & tiny homes |
| 72-cell residential panel | 37–39V | 8–10A | Up to 3S | Good for 24V & 48V systems |
| 144-half-cut bifacial | 38–41V | 10–13A | Up to 3S | High-efficiency modern modules |
| 24V 350–450W panel | 32–38V | 9–11A | Up to 3S | Excellent off-grid system performance |
| 12V 100W RV panel | 18–19V | 5–6A | Up to 7S | Best used in multi-panel RV arrays |
This controller is excellent for medium and large RV solar systems, as well as residential-grade panels in off-grid applications.
